Forest School Families is a community project funded by Mayor of London (The London Family Fund) where the registered charity Nature Vibezzz runs FREE family focused Forest School, Organic Gardening, Healthy Cooking & Eating sessions at various community centres & green spaces in South London.
Activities are run as After School Clubs, school time or as School Holiday Schemes aimed at families with pre-school aged and home educated children, involving all family members.
Forest School sessions include creative skills and exploration such as making dens, woodcraft, nature walks, making perfume (magic potions) from natural items, story telling, introducing healthy eating, recycling and reducing waste, looking after the environment and fire lighting.
Forest School -along with Gardening, Healthy Cooking & Eating- helps build participant’s self-esteem, social skills, general confidence and knowledge.
The project’s objective is to provide a platform for families from a range of backgrounds to gain independence, overcome fears and promote positive feelings in a natural peaceful environment. During project sessions children and adults work together learning new skills; participants are encouraged to support each other to reach achievable goals (i.e: cooking bread on a fire) that will build relationships, skills, self-esteem and confidence.
All project activities are run by experienced fully qualified Forest School Leaders with support from volunteers, all DBS checked.
